You can bring your own project, revive a loved garment, or start something new with our guided starter ideas. Learn sewing skills, explore upcycling, pattern-making, and creative expression through textiles.

Michelle Matthews
Michelle hearkens to the young and old, "try new tricks!" Her love of colour, textures, form and utility brought her artistic proclivities to the world of textiles, and she invites you along in the exploration!
As once a landscape painter Michelle still finds inspiration from the natural world for her creations in thread and fabric. Her post secondary art classes led to a fascination with graphics and a brief stint with computer animation way back in the 1980's. Today she brings together her fascination with the graphic elements of fabric patterns into texture rich designs that are both beautiful and useful. "Yes, you can be both practical and imaginative!"
Michelle has been teaching tricks and tips in classes on mural-making, art fundamentals, sewing and mark-making to all levels and ages since 1993 and she has collaborated with Lory MacDonald on several creative ventures throughout the past 25 years. Bringing creativity to fashion and reviving the once discarded is the venture Lory and Michelle invite you into at the Artists' House!
There is something new to learn and experience everyday in this realm of remnants and castoffs and Michelle wants to share what she's learned along the way while encouraging others to share what they have learned, too!
Currently Michelle shepherds the remnants from retired garments, discarded decor and forgotten stashes, to new life with care and artistic flair from her Remnant Revival Studio in Creemore. Everything is made by hand with the help of a 50+ year old Bernina sewing instrument that sings morning, noon and night. You can visit her website at remnantrevival.ca for a glimpse of some of her creations.
