Both days we will work on large pieces, using stamps, palette knives, brushes, found objects, leaves and textures to build images. The second half of the first day we will create a collection of cards from the images you have created.

The second day will be spent creating large scale paintings, applying what we have learned.

Day 1 Exercise 1: Colours: triad for cohesive colour; transparent (plus turquoise)

2: Wet in wet, wet on dryad drybrush

3. Lines: crayons etc and squeegies and grass and sticks, end of your brush

4. Resists

5. Granulation: lunar black and Granulation medium

6. Charcoal

7. Images cut from Soft Lino (from my collection)

8. Surprises and experiments ie.

9. Positive/negative shapes: wiping, q tips etc

10. Catalogue your work

Exercise 2 Day1

Create a large scale painting using what you have learned

If you love it as is keep it large scale.

If that is the case paint another large scale painting and create cards from it.

Create gift cards by using a window (you create). The opening should be smaller than the card size. (using exacto knife and ruler)

Draw a pencil line (HB or lighter) around the inside of the window. Make many windows, filling your page and finding the sweet spots on your painting.

Using an exacto knife, cut the images out on the inside of the lines.

Place images on your card stock using a glue stick

Day 2

After acquainting yourself with the way to work with watercolour on yupo it is time to make your own blocks. You will create your own tiles using Soft Lino block and cutting tools.

Create painting(s) using your own imagery.
